UpdraftPlus is one of the best and simple to use WordPress plugin for taking backup and then restoring it. It has many features which will allow you to take automatic backup of wp database, plugins, themes and images.

There are plenty of features including backup scheduling and multiple storage options to choose from, and the plugin can be expanded through add-ons.

First you need to install and activate the UpdraftPlus plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Now go to the Settings menu of your dashboard. There you will find UpdraftPlus Backups link. Click it to open the configure plugin settings.

Click the big blue Backup Now button towards the top of the page. A popup appears. Make sure the Include the database in the backup and Include any files in the backup checkboxes are selected, then click Backup Now:

You’ll see a progress bar as UpdraftPlus backs up your site. When it’s finished, you should see the message The backup apparently succeeded and is now complete appear on the page.

Also, if you head on over to the Existing Backups tab, you’ll see your backup appear in the list.

You can download the backups to your hard disk. Also, there are many settings in UpDraftplus like sending backup to a remote account like Dropbox.
